David P. Holveck (b. 1945): CEO Centocor, 1983-present; work on monoclonal antibody diagnostics and therapeutics, forward integration; partnering with Eli Lilly, corporate, culture; biotechnology in Pennsylvania. Edward E. Penhoet (b. 1940): education, Stanford, Illinois and Washington; biochemistry professor, UC Berkeley, 1970-present; president and CEO, Chiron Corp., 1981-1998; discusses Chiron founders, financing, commercialization of recombinant DNA, staff recruitment, corporate growth, bioentrepreneurs.
